Location: Room 315 Geology Geography Building, 210 Field Street, Athens, GA 30602 Geomicrobiology lab focuses on exploring life in extreme and unexplored environments with a broader goal of understanding the origin of life, microbial adaptation/evolution, and extraterrestrial life. Our research uses multi-omics approaches and machine learning-based models to understand the role of microbes in the Earth system. Some of the research themes that the Geomicrobiology lab focuses on are: Microbial community function in extreme environments Role of viruses and eukaryotic microorganisms in ecosystem function and service Astrobiology Role of microbes in the fate and transport of contaminants Lab site: https://duttalab.franklinresearch.uga.edu/ Research Areas: Geomicrobiology Geochemistry Environmental Geosciences
