Congratulations to my doctoral student, Olajide Oladipo, from the University of Georgia Department of Geology. Olajide has been named the 2025 AEG Foundation Lemke Scholar at the Association of Environmental & Engineering Geologists Annual Meeting in Chicago. This award recognizes his outstanding original annual meeting abstract: “Stabilization of Boron in Coal Combustion Wastewaters Using Industrial Byproducts: Insights from FTIR and XRD Analyses.” His research develops practical, low-cost methods for treating boron in coal-combustion and FGD wastewater using industrial byproducts, with results supported by FTIR and XRD. It’s inspiring to see such dedication and creativity rewarded. This is just the beginning of many more great achievements ahead. Well-deserved Olajide! As he finishes his PhD, he is open to employment opportunities in environmental remediation, geochemistry, and consulting.
