The Mineralogical Society of America (MSA) Fellows are members who have contributed significantly to the advancement of mineralogy, crystallography, geochemistry, petrology, or allied sciences and whose scientific contribution utilized mineralogical studies or data. Dr. Paul A. Schroeder has been designated as a Fellow upon proper accreditation by the MSA Committee on Nomination for Fellows and election by the MSA Council. Factors considered are contributions to advancing the field of mineralogy, which include research, publications, teaching, mentoring and advising, professional service through editorship, reviews, or committee work, and development of textbooks and other educational materials. The number of fellows elected each year cannot exceed 0.5% of MSA membership (http://www.minsocam.org/MSA/Awards/Fellowslist.html). The announcement will be published in Elements Magazine, which is the highest-impact international magazine of mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry.
