The Department of Geology, in collaboration with the Lamar Dodd School of Art, has the honor to exhibit the work of UGA Alumna Ansley West Rivers titled Holding Time. The artwork maybe viewed at the third floor Geological Gallery in GG.

The Artwork: Holding Time brings together three distinct bodies of photographic work by the artist to show the disquieting intersection of landscape and humanity.

About the Artist: Ansley West Rivers

A 2006 graduate, Ansley West Rivers, traversed the country photographing the rapidly transforming landscape with her large-format camera. West Rivers brings her personal memories and research to Athens through a large-scale map of the local watershed. "Made with unique applications of the historic techniques of cyanotype and palladium, the painterly map animates the rivers as essential lifelines across the earth. Holding Time presents the beauty and wildness of the lands we inhabit in hopes of evoking conversation around the very sources of life itself".
