Alternatively, a code request can be made to schroe@uga.edu About the Speaker: Jim Kubicki is an Interdisciplinary Research (IDR) Fellow responsive to the UTEP Office of Research and Sponsored Projects as well as the Office of the Provost. As an IDR Fellow, he has formed a research team and a broader community of practice to explore the impacts of atmospheric aerosols on climate and/or health from both a chemical and physical perspective. These aerosols are one of the largest sources of uncertainty in current climate models. Kubicki widens the group of experts who typically study this to include geographers, biologists, and medical professionals from UTEP, internal and external research centers, as well as other academic institutions. Research Interests: Mineral-water interactions, organic and nutrient adsorption onto soils, C and H isotopes in organic compounds, cellulose and lignin chemistry. General interests are in thermodynamics, spectroscopy, and reaction mechanisms in geochemical systems. James D. Kubicki Dept. of Geological Sciences The University of Texas at El Paso
