Colloquium

This event has been cancelled.

The title of my research presentation is "Magmatic Evolution of the Southern Central American Arc Late Miocene to Present." In this research, I show that in oceanic arcs with moderate crustal thicknesses, variations in magma water content may be the primary variable controlling shifts in magma composition from the typical calc-alkaline series to the characteristic compositional range of Archean continental crust. I will demonstrate during the presentation the importance of amphibole-rich cumulates observed in lavas throughout the region.
