New Employee Orientation

All newly-hired faculty and staff will receive a system-generated email invitation to visit the UGA Onboarding System and complete their new hire "packet." The email will include instructions for accessing the secure Onboarding System.

Once the Onboarding "packet" has been completed additional actions must be taken by the new hire to complete the employee’s records.

  • OneUSG connect - new employee forms (Direct Deposit, G-4, and W-4) are completed online through OneUSG Connect and will be available on the new employee’s official start date. For those employees who are not US citizens or US Permanent Residents (including F1, J1, H1 and other visa types), you will complete these forms via GLACIER.
  • All new hire employees must present proof of identity and eligibility to work (I-9 required documentation) to an HR representative at the Human Resource Office within 3 business days of your employment. I-9 verification is no longer handled by the Geology department office staff.
  • Please DO NOT print any forms out and bring them to the department office. Everything is done electronically through the Onboard system and OneUSG connect.

Required Training

All newly hired employees have to complete the training modules listed below. Training Modules will be available for completion on the new employee’s official start date.

  • University System of Georgia (USG) Ethics Training: Learn about USG's ethical and professional standards. You will use eLearning Commons (eLC) to access the Ethics training. All newly-hired employees should complete the USG Ethics BASIC course within 30 days of hire.
  • Cybersecurity Awareness Training: Overview of the campus-wide role based accountability model for protecting sensitive and critical data. To complete this mandatory training, please logon to the Professional Education Portal (PEP) with your UGA MyID credentials. Once on the PEP homepage, scroll down and under the section “Training Due”.

Note: These training modules are due within 60 days of the new hire's start date.

In addition to the training listed above, newly hired research-based employees also have to complete the two training modules listed below. Both training modules are included through the Professional Education Portal (PEP).
